Global Turkish Education
The Turkish Maarif Foundation provides qualified academic education to students enrolled in educational institutions and also emphasizes the importance of teaching the Turkish language, while providing a good level of foreign language education. For this purpose, Turkish teachers are appointed in all Maarif Schools, and research on curriculum, book, visual and digital materials is carried out by the Turkish and Foreign Language Teaching Department at the Foundation’s center. This framework aims to ensure that the students who graduate from secondary education will achieve a Turkish proficiency level of B2, in accordance with international language teaching standards.
Turkish language at IMSB
Turkish lessons in International Maarif School of Bucharest are designed for two groups – Turkish as first language (mother tongue) and Turkish as second language (foreign language). For those students with Turkish as a mother tongue, the MEB Turkish Curriculum is implemented. Turkish lessons are introduced in kindergarten and taught up to 10th grade. At the end of grade 10 (Year 11), students take the Cambridge IGCSE exam for Turkish as a first language. Many extracurricular activities are carried out with students who study Turkish as a mother tongue. Ceremonies and celebrations are held with the participation of students and parents for all religious and national holidays celebrated in Türkiye.
Turkish as a second language (foreign language) is taught in accordance with the curriculum of the Turkish Maarif Foundation. The aim of teaching Turkish as a second language (foreign language) is to enable students to achieve a B2 level by their graduation. Turkish lessons are taught to all grades, from kindergarten to 10th grade (Year 11). Students in this group participate in activities carried out in accordance with different themes, such as grocery shopping, cooking events, coffee traditions, etc.
