After living and working for 14 years in Sudan, I returned to Romania with my husband and son and joined the Maarif family since the day they opened their first school here. While being abroad, I worked with 3 major schools from Khartoum and I became experienced with the National Curriculum of Great Britain, the American curriculum (State of California) and the Primary Year Programme from the IB programme. I held various educational positions, both in teaching and in school management. I am also a parent at MISB, this makes my journey here more interesting, and I do believe that the sky is the limit for all of us!

My name is Maria Barbulescu and I have been an English teacher since 2014. I have worked with children of all ages and with adults as well – but I admit, I do have a preference of working with teenagers; although all people perceive this age as challenging, I personally like challenges and I find that teenagers are the ones who know not to take themselves too seriously but can also be hard-working! I have graduated from the University of Bucharest (Faculty of Foreign Languages, with a BA degree in English and German) and from the National School of Political Science and Public Administration (Faculty of Management, with an MA degree in Management and Corporate Branding). I hold multiple certificates when it comes to English teaching: Celta, Delta M1 and Delta M3, Celt-S and all the TKT certificates. I am also an approved teacher trainer by the Romanian government and by Cambridge, and I have my Definitivat certificate as well. Although some may be tempted to call me a workaholic, I do enjoy doing a variety of activities in my free time, such as travelling to other countries and sightseeing, watching horror movies, playing tennis and spending time with my three dogs!
